How to Compare Cable Suppliers and Avoid False Economy

Supplier comparison should measure technical compliance and total risk, not just price per metre. Small differences in conductor resistance, dimensions, tests, length or documentation can have large project consequences.

Technical Equivalence

Compare conductor material and resistance, insulation and sheath compounds, thicknesses, screens, armour, diameter, mass, markings and standards. Request a completed compliance schedule.

Quality Evidence

Review relevant product approvals, test reports, calibration control and traceability. Verify that documents apply to the offered product and manufacturing entity.

Commercial and Delivery Risk

Check quote validity, metal-price adjustment, MOQ, drum length, lead time, Incoterm, inspection and payment milestones. A vague low quote may later accumulate extras.

After-Sales Process

Agree how shortages, damage or test disputes will be documented and resolved. Retain drum labels, photographs and independent test evidence if a claim occurs.

A Bid Evaluation With Evidence

Score compliance, test evidence, manufacturing control, delivery, documentation and claims support before opening the final commercial comparison. A bidder that leaves many assumptions unstated should not receive the same technical score as a fully documented offer.
